Cabbage Stir Fry


How to make Sukhi Patta Gobhi,  Chana Dal Aur Bandh Gobhi ki Sabzi, Cabbage Chana Dal Stir Fry, Patta Gobhi Recipe


Sharing  recipe with stepwise images of each step. Today's delicious blog post is made with cabbage, chana Dal, and flavored with mustard seeds, curry leaves desiccated coconut, lemon juice and other  Indian spice's.




Today's recipe is super quick, healthy, delicious, flavorful and absolutely scrumptious. After cooking cabbage this way, you don't feel like trying the cabbage recipe in any other way. This cabbage recipe is actually a side dish recipe, but this can also be served as a salad.

☑ Ingredients  required 

⚫300g Patagobhi - Cabbage 
⚫½ lemon (juice)
⚫8-10 curry leaves
⚫2tsp mustard seeds
⚫½ tsp asafoetida
⚫2tbsp cooked Chana dal
⚫1tbsp Desiccated Coconut powder 
⚫1tbsp roasted peanuts (optional) 
⚫3-4 Green chillies
⚫1tsp turmeric powder
⚫1tsp cooking oil 
⚫Salt to taste





☑ Method:


♨Step  1: Mise en place - Vegetable chopping and chana dal soaking 


⚫Patta Gobhi - Washed and finely shredded. 
⚫Green Chillies - finely chopped
⚫Wash and soak Chana dal for 2 hours.






♨ Step 2 Cook chana dal

⚫Wash Chana dal, add 150ml water, 2 drops of cooking oil, pinch of salt and turmeric powder. Cook it until soft - keep aside until called for.



♨ Step 3: Final preparation

⚫Heat oil in large frying pan. Add mustard seeds, allow it to crackle, then add curry leaves, green chillies and asafoetida and sautรฉ for 35-40 seconds. Add cabbage saute for 2 minutes.



⚫Add salt, turmeric powder, mix well saute it on medium flame for 5-6 minutes. Keep stirring in between to avoid sticking. Add cooked Chana dal, desiccated coconut, blend well. Cook again for 2-3 minutes.


⚫When its 70-75% cooked, add lemon juice, switch off the gas stove . Please note cabbage should never be overcooked in this recipe, but the it should taste crunchy and enjoyable chewable.




⚫Garnish it with roasted peanuts.  Serve hot.

  1. Wow! What a love cabbage stir fry, Deepa! My mom used to make chana dal and cabbage. But this addition of coconut to the cabbage is new to me! I love coconut and peanuts! So that means I am sure gonna love this delicious Cabbage recipe! :)
